ARTIST STATEMENT
By creating moving sculptures and performances, my artistic practice consists of creating situations which question the relationship between human and non-human.
I believe that self-awareness always happens through the other. By creating an unconventional other, one made of branches or garbage, I attempt to create a context in which the audience perceive itself differently.
Within the work I reflect on questions posed by the immediate environment in relation to philosophical and political themes to construct an alternative, but never an absolute end. Themes that are prevalent in my work are the Anthropocene and the global commodification of every (non-) human enterprise. I try to approach these themes not from one perspective, but from multiple, resulting in an answer which is never too graspable and leaving open holes and gabs for interpretation.
